Hard Requirement — non-negotiable: Active PRC Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) certificate. Applications without a PEE licence will not be progressed.

The Role

Karnot Energy Solutions is the Philippines' first natural-refrigerant heat pump company. We design and install R290 (propane) and CO₂ refrigeration systems for commercial clients across Luzon and Visayas. Every project we deliver requires stamped and sealed electrical drawings before the LGU OBO, BFP, and Meralco will process any application. Right now, we are dependent on external consultants for that sealing authority. This role ends that dependency permanently.

As Senior Electrical Engineer (PEE), you become Karnot's in-house sealing engineer. You will own the electrical design from load calculation through to as-built submission — covering Ex-rated hazardous-area design for R290 plant rooms, Solar PV and BESS integration for iVOLT projects, and switchgear/distribution for all commercial installations. You will also hold the PEE signature on Karnot's PCAB STE credentials, enabling us to bid government and larger private projects independently.

This is a founding engineering hire. You will build the electrical function from zero, set the design standards, and grow a team around you as Karnot scales. Salary is negotiable upward for demonstrated experience — the posted range reflects a base; exceptional candidates will earn more.

What Karnot Offers

About This Role — Common Questions

Is the PRC PEE licence really non-negotiable?

Yes. Philippine law requires a licensed PEE to stamp and sign electrical drawings submitted to LGU OBOs and BFP. No PEE licence means no sealing authority, which means the role cannot be performed as described. RMEs and REEs are not eligible for this position.

What is the PCAB STE role, and why does it matter?

The Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) requires a licensed engineer as Supervising Technical Employee (STE) to classify a contractor for electrical work. Without an in-house PEE as STE, Karnot cannot hold the appropriate PCAB classification and must subcontract or partner for every permit application. Bringing the PEE in-house removes that constraint and enables independent project delivery.

What does Ex-rated electrical design involve for R290?

R290 (propane) is a Class A3 flammable refrigerant. Any electrical equipment installed in or adjacent to a plant room containing R290 must be designed to IEC 60079 (hazardous area) standards — the correct equipment zone classification, ingress protection, and cable routing must be documented and sealed. Karnot will provide product datasheets and zone drawings; the PEE must translate these into compliant electrical designs.

Where is Mapandan, and what is daily life like there?

Mapandan is a municipality in Pangasinan province, approximately 230 km north of Manila on the TPLEX expressway. It sits between Dagupan City and San Carlos — the cost of living is significantly lower than Metro Manila, housing is affordable, and there is no daily gridlock commute. The Low Carbon Innovation Centre at Nilombot is Karnot's engineering and operations base.
