The Role

The Design Mechanical Engineer is the third engineering hire at Karnot and the production engine behind the mechanical drawing set. While the Senior Mechanical Engineer (PME) holds sealing authority and owns design decisions, you produce the drawings that make those decisions real — plant room layouts, piping schematics, equipment schedules, load calculations, and bills of materials for every project in the pipeline.

This is a CAD-based office role at our Mapandan HQ. You will work closely with the PME and the senior electrical engineer on every project, translating site survey data and equipment selection into permit-ready drawing packages. As Karnot grows its project volume, you will increasingly own the drafting workflow — building drawing templates, maintaining the block library, and eventually supervising junior draughtspersons.

The career path here is explicit: Karnot will support you through PRC board exam preparation if you are a board-passer working towards PME, or through continuing professional development if you hold RME. This is a company that invests in its engineers.

What Karnot Offers

About This Role — Common Questions

Is this a remote or hybrid role?

No. This is an on-site CAD role at the Mapandan HQ. Drawing production requires access to the shared design server, the physical sample equipment for measurement verification, and daily collaboration with the PME and sales team. Candidates must be willing to relocate to or already live within commuting distance of Mapandan, Pangasinan.

Will Karnot support me through the PME board exam?

Yes. Karnot's intention is to grow its licensed engineering staff. If you hold RME and are working towards PME, Karnot will fund review courses, provide study leave allowance, and structure your project exposure so your experience log meets PRC requirements. This is a firm commitment, not a vague benefit.

What refrigeration products will I be drawing?

Primarily iHEAT R290 heat pumps (9.5–100 kW), iCOOL CO₂ refrigeration, iSPA pool heat pumps, iZONE hydronic fan coils, and AquaHERO heat pump water heaters. Karnot does not build bespoke equipment — products are drawn and specified from a defined range, which means drawing standards can be templated and reused efficiently.

What software will I use day to day?

AutoCAD Inventor is the primary platform. The drawing library and title blocks will be built to Karnot's standards. You should be proficient in AutoCAD at minimum; Inventor 3D experience is a significant advantage. Other software (Excel for load calculations, Google Sheets for BoM) is used alongside CAD for project documentation.
