iCOOL 10HP CO₂

CO₂ transcritical condensing unit — medium temperature

Chilled duty at scale, with a 100 m pipe run so the machine can sit well away from the rooms it serves — on a roof, behind the building, wherever the noise and the heat are somebody else’s problem.

R744 CO₂ · GWP 1 Inverter driven MT only PED Category II

What this unit gives you

It follows the load

Inverter driven, so it modulates between 6.96 and 13.92 kW instead of cycling on and off. Quieter, steadier box temperatures, and less wear.

No refrigerant cliff edge

CO₂ has a GWP of 1 and sits outside the Kigali phase-down. There is no future date at which this machine becomes expensive to refill.

Built for the heat

Rated to +43 °C ambient as standard. Salt-proof coating is available for coastal sites, which in this country is most of them.

Put it where it suits

Up to 100 m of pipe between the unit and the rooms it serves, so the plant can sit out of the way of the operation.

Talks to your BMS

Modbus over RS485, and it works with the usual monitoring systems. You can see what it is doing without standing next to it.

Where it fits

A full supermarket chilled estate, a distribution chiller, a food factory’s cold side. Medium temperature only.

How to size it

Use the 70% figure, not the maximum

The capacity above is a range because the compressor modulates. The 70% design point is what to size against: it leaves headroom for a hot afternoon and a full box, without specifying a machine so large it short-cycles at three in the morning.

Medium and low temperature are different duties

Medium temperature is chilled work, roughly −10 °C evaporating. Low temperature is frozen, down to −35 °C. A unit rated for both carries a smaller number on the frozen side, because moving heat from colder is harder. Size each room against the right column.

Tell us the site, not just the kilowatts

Design ambient in Manila is not design ambient in Munich, and a catalogue figure taken at 32 °C will flatter any machine. Send us the room sizes, the product, the door traffic and the location and we will size it against conditions you will actually see.

Options worth asking about

Salt-proof coating

An anti-corrosion fin treatment for coastal and tropical sites. On an archipelago this is not an exotic extra — it is the difference between a coil that lasts and one that does not.

Adiabatic pre-cooling

For sites that run past the standard ambient envelope, a pre-cooling stage holds capacity through the worst of the afternoon.

About these figures. Cooling capacities are manufacturer-rated at ET −10 °C / AT 32 °C (medium temperature) and ET −35 °C / AT 32 °C (low temperature), and are quoted as the modulating range of the inverter. The 70 % design point is 0.70 of the rated maximum. Sound pressure is measured at 1 m. These are rated figures, not measured performance on your site: actual output depends on ambient conditions, evaporator selection, pipe run and load profile. Specifications may change without notice — confirm before ordering. Karnot sizes every installation against site-specific design conditions rather than catalogue values.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the capacity given as a range?

Because the compressor is inverter-driven, so the machine modulates instead of switching on and off. The iCOOL 10HP CO₂ runs anywhere between 6.96 kW and 13.92 kW at medium temperature. Quoting only the top of that range would tell you what it can do flat out, not what it does on your site. Size on the 70% figure and you have headroom for a hot day without a machine that spends its life cycling.

Is CO₂ safe, and what happens when the rules change?

CO₂ (R744) is non-flammable and non-toxic, with a GWP of 1 and an ODP of zero. It sits outside the Kigali phase-down entirely, so there is no future date at which this machine becomes expensive to service or illegal to refill — which is not true of the HFC plant it replaces.

Will it hold up in Philippine heat?

The envelope runs to +43 °C ambient. Above that, an adiabatic pre-cooling stage is available. Tell us the site and we will size it against real local design conditions rather than a European catalogue figure.
